XP rewards both effort (answering and finishing) and performance (getting it right — harder questions count more); for most students about 40% comes from effort. Each day, effort XP stops counting after 150 and performance XP after 300, so steady practice beats one marathon session. One-time bonuses (clearing a tier, passing a unit test) are always paid in full. Effort XP counts at most one answer per 5 seconds across all your open papers. Days, weeks, months and years roll over at midnight IST.
